Kidepo Valley National Park
Uganda's untouched wilderness — where the savanna meets the horizon in Africa's most spectacular setting.
Discover Kidepo's Untamed Beauty
Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda's most remote and pristine wilderness, tucked away in the rugged Karamoja region near the borders of South Sudan and Kenya. Often called the "True African Wilderness," this 1,442 square kilometer park offers an authentic, untouched safari experience found nowhere else in East Africa.
CNN and travel experts have rated Kidepo among the best national parks in Africa, thanks to its breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife, and complete absence of crowds. The park features two dramatic valleys — the lush Narus Valley and the starkly beautiful Kidepo Valley — each offering unique wildlife viewing opportunities.
Kidepo is home to 77 mammal species, including several found nowhere else in Uganda — cheetahs, ostriches, bat-eared foxes, and greater and lesser kudus. The park also boasts over 475 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.

Best Time to Visit Kidepo
The best time to visit Kidepo is during the dry seasons from June to September and December to March. During these months, wildlife concentrates around the Narus Valley's permanent water sources, offering spectacular game viewing.
The wet seasons (April-May and October-November) transform Kidepo into a lush green paradise, but roads become challenging and some areas inaccessible. The park is often closed from April to early May due to heavy rains.
Kidepo receives far fewer visitors than other Ugandan parks — you'll often have entire game drives without seeing another vehicle, offering an exclusive safari experience.
